Vivian Ikechukwu netted twice as Abia Angels defeated Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Champions, Rivers Angels 2-1 in their first pre-season friendly game played at Abayi in Aba.
The teenager’s grabbed her brace in the second half to cancel Rafat Sule’s opener for the ‘Jewel of Rivers’ after dominating the first quarter of the game.
Sule, who won the league top scorer award with nine goals last season fired the hosts in front in the half hour mark.
However, Sule’s goal was canceled out six minutes into the second half by Vivian Ikechukwu who scored from a rebound and in the 75th minute, Vivian got her brace to give her side the victory.
The return leg will be played on Sunday by 3pm at the Yakubu Gowon stadium.
